The Brigade

The Commando Brigade, known as "Oz," was established in December 2015 as part of a new operational concept within the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), with the aim of consolidating the elite ground combat units under a single unified framework. The brigade brings together the Egoz, Maglan, and Duvdevan units - each possessing unique operational specializations, and integrates their capabilities to form a high-quality, agile, and rapidly deployable offensive force.

As the premier brigade of the Ground Forces, the Commando Brigade was designed as an independent, readily available, and dynamic formation, emphasizing innovation, advanced technology, and rapid response capabilities. Its primary mission is to operate with strength and precision against the enemy, both on the front lines and deep within hostile territory, while maintaining full adaptability across a wide range of operational scenarios.

The brigade's soldiers specialize in close quarters combat, countering infiltration threats, kidnappings, and terrorist activities, as well as conducting complex, long-range raids. The brigade operates across all required environments - from precise, surgical operations to high-intensity combat, while consistently striving for engagement, initiative, and operational superiority.

The Commando Brigade's motto, "Your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies," reflects its mission, fighting spirit, and the unwavering commitment of its soldiers and commanders to the defense of the State of Israel.
